Our Journey
In 1989, our founder Hedley Gilbert (shown right) started Provida - then Nightingale Medical - from his garage in Slough, supplying care homes. His sons Neil and Graham started in 1991 and 1993, and the business was moved into proper storage facilities.
The retail shop was then started, selling mobility equipment and aids to the public. From 1993 to 2012 the business grew and became established in the local area, and the shop expanded to sell consumables.
In 2013 we made the strategic decision to only supply care homes and establishments. The mobility shop was sold, and we continued the partnership under the name Provida selling to the care homes across the UK.
From 2014, we expanded further to offer servicing, repairs and interior design services. We then moved to our current, substantially larger site in August 2021, combining both our warehouse and office in one location to be able to better serve our customers from a central base.
